The best markets to discover in Val-David and the surrounding area
If Val-David is known for its calm, its trails and its artistic atmosphere, it is also for the richness of its local products. Here, local life is expressed as much through nature as by the hands that create, transform, cultivate and manufacture. And the best place to experience it is undoubtedly the village market.
Over the seasons, the Val-David markets become places for meetings, discoveries and simple pleasure. Whether you go there to stroll, discuss or bring back a memory, it is a must of any stay in the region.
The Val-David market: in the heart of village life
THE Val-David summer market takes place every Saturday morning from May to October, on rue de l'Académie. It brings together up to 60 exhibitors: organic market gardeners, bakers, transformers, but also craftsmen, creators and local artists. You come as much to shop as to enjoy the atmosphere.
It is not a market like any other: it is a certified market "Earth market", recognized for its commitment to quality, local production and short circuits.
What we find there:
- Seasonal fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, breads, canned, spices
- Soaps, ceramics, handmade jewelry, textiles, craft candles
- Cafes, street musicians, children who run, village discussions
The atmosphere is that of a living and open place, where you take the time to choose, taste, speak. You can have a breakfast on the go, go back with a miche of bread still hot, or discuss manufacturing syrup with a passionate producer.
Other markets and producers to discover around
Beyond the main market, Val-David and its surroundings are full of small farms, seasonal kiosks and punctual markets that are worth seeing.

The Sainte-Adèle public market is held during the summer period in the heart of the city center. Producers, craftsmen and local transformers offer seasonal fruits and vegetables, breads, jams, flowers, handmade jewelry and sweets from the terroir. The atmosphere is friendly, perfect for a gourmet stop or a morning outing during a weekend in a chalet.
Local farm kiosks
Some producers open their land to visitors for direct sales: organic vegetables, farm eggs, herbs, and sometimes even warm exchanges around the vegetable patch.
These places offer a direct meeting with those who produce, another way of discovering the Laurentians, far from the classic tourist circuits.
Why visit a market during a stay in a chalet?
Whether you are in a chalet for the weekend or for a few days, going to the market allows you to taste the local life, to return your arms loaded with good products, but also of memories: a handmade soap, a jar of honey, a discussion with a craftsman.
Rather than planning all your meals in advance, leave a little room for the inspiration of the moment: a basket of colorful vegetables, a fresh cheese, a piece with sourdoughs still warm ... Sometimes it is enough of three well -chosen products to create a simple and tasty supper to share.
Going to the market is also:
- Meet the local people, discover their know-how
- Take part in local life, even as a visitor
- Bring a gourmet, useful and durable memory (honey, jam jar, local herbal teas)
It’s also a great way to start your day: go out in the morning, walk to the village, have a coffee by observing the market animation, before returning quietly to enjoy the chalet.
